What is keeping you busy currently?
What large projects are you working on?

Strategy Delivery: actively executing our strategic plans to support the energy industry and energy transition with a specific focus on Plug and Abandonment operations.

Brand Building: working on strengthening our brand and footprint within the UK market place.

Competence and Capabilities: expanding our competencies and capabilities to better service our clients and prospective clients.

Integrated Services: delivery of integrated services and innovative solutions to increase efficiency and reduce POB footprint across our services offshore.

Net Zero Emissions: aligning closely with our clients’ goals of achieving net zero emissions by 2050 in accordance with the Paris Agreement.

We are dedicated to developing and expanding our projects and engineering capabilities, further enhancing our position in this key market area. We have ambitions to expand our presence in the UK, including increasing awareness of the services offered by the Green Technology department within Engineering and supporting our sister company Odfjell Oceanwind to be active in the UK market.

We are excited to promote Odfjell Technology in the energy market, showcasing our ability to deliver integrated services which cover the entire well delivery life cycle.

What are some of the opportunities/challenges you see for your organisation in the future?

We see a promising path ahead for our organisation as we gear up to support the energy transition.

We are actively enhancing our collaborative service delivery to provide comprehensive start-to-finish project execution for energy transition projects, with a particular emphasis on enhancing our P&A services. This is aligned with our commitment to excellence  in the delivery of our core areas.

Following the spin-off of Odfjell Technology from Odfjell Drilling, it is important for us to develop our brand, raise awareness of our services and establish a strong presence in the market.

A significant challenge in our industry is the retention and sourcing of skilled personnel. Recognising the importance of this, we are dedicated to attracting new talent and retaining our current employees with their valuable knowledge, skills and capabilities. Our commitment to this ensures that we have the expertise required to grasp the opportunities that lie ahead.

How would you describe the company culture? Do you have any specific shared values?

We nurture a culture that actively embraces our core values; safety conscious, committed, creative, competent and result orientated. These shared values form the foundations of the company – allowing us to grow, meet fresh challenges, continually develop technology and work with new people in a manner that supports our culture, objectives and high organisational standards. By staying true to these values, we believe we can continue to meet requirements, overcome challenges, deliver on promises and surpass expectations.

As an organisation how is OEUK membership helping your business?

Our team has the opportunity to participate in various forums, enabling us to access valuable data, knowledge and networking opportunities that we might not have fully realised before joining OEUK.

Membership has expanded our network capacity to areas we hadn’t explored before, such as understanding political agendas and government procedures.

We have gained valuable insight into industry movements and have a broader visibility of the energy transition. This has enabled us to see the bigger picture, rather than solely focusing on our specific delivery area within the energy transition supply chain.

Which OEUK event did you most enjoy and why?

I thoroughly enjoyed the Decommissioning conference in St. Andrews. This event provided a comprehensive view of the breadth and depth of the P&A supply chain market. It was fantastic to listen to industry professionals, engage in debates, challenge current perspectives while looking to the future.  We are excited to be exhibiting at this year’s conference!

OEUK has over Fourteen Forums, which forum do you attend and what do you like most about that particular forum?

Our HR Business Partner has been actively participating in the Employment and Skills Forums. These forums provide an excellent platform for networking and having discussions on challenges and industry-related topics.

Additionally, we attend the Wells and Decommissioning Forums where we gain valuable insights into the latest industry trends, regulations and best practices.  These forums also offer a great platform for networking with peers, potential clients and industry leaders and building relationships within the decommissioning community.  These forums also facilitate knowledge sharing through case studies and learning from the experience of others.

Future of Industry

What are the biggest Net-Zero changes you have seen in our industry?

The most significant Net-Zero changes I have observed in our industry involves seeing people visibly step up and seeking innovative approaches. This includes recognising the need for change within our industry and the understanding that we can all be catalysts for change by investing in the future.

We are actively expanding our skills, and in addition to being part of the traditional energy supply chain, we are exploring new sources of energy.

How do you see the industry looking in 20 years?

In the next 20 years I envision the UKCS basin being more orientated towards joint venture partnerships and collaborations. This strategic shift will optimise performance and cost management in ongoing and future projects across Oil & Gas, P&A, geothermal, carbon capture, hydrogen and wind.

How is your organisation driving the transition to Net-Zero?

As we know, climate change is a significant challenge of our time.  Odfjell Technology recognises the need to shift away from fossil fuels after time and become a net-zero society.  Our activities and business model have embraced this through the implementation of our Green Technology team, which delivers baseline reviews of current environmental performance KPIs along with new processes and technology to aid in the reduction of emissions.

In line with this, Odfjell Technolgy are in the process of establishing specific targets, including milestones for emission reduction.  We are focused on working with our clients, competitors and employees to ensure we all play our part.
